Richard is CEO of Merlin, qualifying ACII in 2005. He is recognised as one of the UK’s leading technical experts in commercial insurance. Richard also makes regular appearances as an expert witness and advises other construction professionals (quantity surveyors, architects and solicitors) on insurance matters. 

 

He was third through the door at Merlin, joining the team in 2025. Richard started off life in insurance as an underwriter with AXA, before joining Ross Gower in 2006 where he became MD. 

 

Richard’s work is heavily focused on the property, real estate and construction markets. Rick also believes strongly in the importance of adding value beyond insurance cover to clients, helping them grow their businesses as well as providing knowledge and expertise beyond their policy.
